“Tragic Plane Crash Claims Two Lives in Alaska’s Denali National Park“
Earlier this week, a plane crash in Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals.
The pilot, identified as Jason Tucker, aged 45, and the passenger, Nicolas Blace, aged 44, are believed to have perished in the crash, according to official statements.
The Alaska Air National Guard Rescue Coordination Center was alerted on Wednesday when an aircraft, a PA-18, failed to reach its destination within Denali National Park’s southwest preserve. Subsequently, on Thursday, the Air National Guard located the wreckage of the aircraft in a ravine near the Yentna River, within the park.

In a separate incident, Alaska State Troopers were notified on Thursday regarding a stranded hunter at an airstrip just beyond the preserve’s southern border. The hunter’s pilot had failed to return for him.
“After rescuing the stranded hunter, Alaska State Troopers were informed that the pilot (Tucker) and his hunting companion (Blace) had departed the initial airstrip on Wednesday with the intention of flying to a Dillinger River airstrip near the preserve’s western boundary,” the statement explains. “Tucker’s plan was to drop off Blace and then return for the other hunter, a plan that unfortunately did not materialize.”
