Paul Reubens’ Cause of Death Revealed: Leukemia and Respiratory Failure

According to his death certificate, Paul Reubens, renowned for his role in the 1985 classic “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” passed away at the age of 70 in July. The cause of death was reported as acute hypoxic respiratory failure, indicating insufficient oxygen production in his lungs. This respiratory condition was likely a result of his battle with cancer, which had also spread to his lungs. The death certificate specified the cancer as acute myelogenous leukemia, a blood disease that affects bone marrow.

Reubens’ family released a statement on July 31, shortly after his demise, revealing that he had been courageously and privately confronting cancer for years, showcasing his trademark determination and humor. The actor had not publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis.

As per the death certificate, Reubens was cremated, and his final resting place will be the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Throughout his illustrious career, Paul Reubens starred in various films, including “Batman Returns,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Matilda,” “Mystery Men,” “Blow,” “Buddy,” and “Dunston Checks In.” In a posthumously revealed letter, Reubens expressed his gratitude and love for his friends, fans, and supporters, acknowledging their unwavering support and the joy he found in creating art for them.”
