The Former Navy SEAL Claiming Responsibility for Osama bin Laden’s Demise Apprehended in Texas.
In a recent development, the individual identified as the ex-Navy SEAL who has publicly taken credit for eliminating Osama bin Laden has been taken into custody in Texas.
Robert J. O’Neill, aged 47, was apprehended on a Wednesday in Frisco. He is currently facing allegations related to assault causing bodily harm, a Class A misdemeanor, alongside a charge of public intoxication, classified as a Class C misdemeanor. The information has been reported by The Dallas Morning News. Notably, the jail records exclusively reflect the assault accusation and make no mention of any other charges.
At this juncture, the Frisco police have yet to disclose specific details about the circumstances surrounding O’Neill’s arrest.
Following the arrest, O’Neill was released on the same day after posting a bond of $3,500. According to a report by the New York Post, he had been in the town to record a podcast at a local cigar lounge.
O’Neill, originally hailing from Montana, initially came forward in 2014 with the claim that he was responsible for firing the shots that led to bin Laden’s demise in 2011.
A former member of SEAL Team 6, O’Neill detailed this significant event in his 2017 memoir titled “The Operator.”
The assertion made by O’Neill has, thus far, neither been confirmed nor refuted by the U.S. government.
